Embraced by the pleasant stench of ever-burning oils You walk this path of stone Ablaze with lanterns, dying With each breath you cannot shake that feeling The intrusive sensation tingling around your spine Who is that creature speaking to me right now? Search within your mind and call me whatever you like Heavy rain strumming bare wood - That is my name Midnight fire waltzing on the hearth - That is my name The feeling when you are to be touched - And then it happens That was my name And I wish you would leave me alone.

Fin de siècle round twenty-one, catch XXII Conciliation with thy maker through his irritation Bipolar minds spawned a singular war Catharsis through the cataclysm Selective retrograde amnesia Masses tried by fire, then cleansed by the flood Idle hands do the devil's work indeed - Rest no longer Pound the drum of the global strife - Hear it sing The hammer of ungods, too heavy and too cold See it descend, hear its call Mouths of the crippled Spit forth the hangman's hymn The chorus howls in unison Of thy closure, praising thy fall The century of contradiction Autocracy of force-fed happiness Gluttony, glamour and rape Melpomene mocking Thalia Twisted mirrors distorting each other Winds of madness - O, hear them howl The tombs look nice tonight The dead glow at night They are forever With the light coming from their tombs So we can appreciate What comes next Betwixt tigerish wraiths In the shape of human shadows Drug-induced sheol Forget and be forgotten Psychonautic tear-stained evangelion You bet we had it coming - O, hear them howl.

Everything lives reflected In the statue of mirrors Every shape grows inverted In the statue of mirrors A phenomenon beyond phenomena The veil beyond the veil An oracle I have become An empty vessel, a gap Yearning to be filled With the eyes of the first man I see Dispersed in primordial fogs Renouncing the values of life I inhale the bright winds All the light bleeds distorted In the statue of mirrors All the filth thrives rewarded In the statue of mirrors Thy karma is the colour Of what we learn to know as death We brick up the rooms of the dead It would be dark, without a sound Thy karma is the colour Of what we learn to know as death Inhale the bright winds And exhale stale odours of existence Be gone Through loose threads you crawl Be still, be nothing Be gone A doppelganger in the world beyond the glass Sharp lines, raw edges Frame rate high, expectations low The pace so even It caught me by surprise to see you die Strict divisions between one act and another Your deeds in a sequence Delicate movements, minor details Felt rather than seen The theme consistent, the arrangement so clear I wish you could see it, too Such order of things makes me calm And so were you At times Until you were not The escutcheon of glass forever hides your wound The beads of foxfire forever lit the tomb Thy scars unhealed, thy work undone Thy demise delayed As for thy deeds – An epitaph? Please – be gone.

Some still swear to hear the infrasonic disturbance The rattle of the seismic waves Centuries old yet driven firmly Into subconscious minds of the new offspring What is Is what should be What is Is what must be What is Is what will be Handmade Suns conjured out of thin air Gases devouring flesh and crippling minds Mutations lasting for centuries The face of the landscape reshaped For millennia to come Autonomous unmanned aircraft Scorching the corpse of the city Decades after the last man had been seen In the forgotten works Let the utter silence of the charred souls Be forever sealed In the black soundless sugar.

Non-You 06:59
Come and see I know your kind Too afraid to look Too curious to leave Lift them up The chains of your love And move forward for a change The grass feels so nice Under the heavy footsteps Its spine bends so easily Almost as easily as yours - I wonder Have you ever walked with ease? Your love for the others Aiming too far, too high more often than not Your soft voices Too harsh to me Your smile is tearing down my skin I wonder - Have you ever walked with ease? Giving for giving's sake Caring for caring's sake Weakness, softness, pain and guilt You always love to share First come, first served Come and see The sum of all things The art of hide and seek You and non-you The hunt is on You're what you´re not The hunt is on You and non-you Now wake up And see us die A knife, a hand - And screw the rest For smaller things some burn in hell.

Primitive yet thriving Suckers for filth and glory Every dog has its day And today is the day We feast upon the ancients We have drunk their flesh We have vaped their bones vitrified We have spat into the well of life We have poured our black blood Into the fucking grail The earthen world will reek of failure As long as you keep on breathing Praise sickness, hail hypocrisy Revel in fumes of decay As they emanate from thy neighbour's skin Sons of oblivion Daughters of nothingness - Harken to the manifest We are the voice of reason The truth of all truths delivered - Harken to the manifest Harken to the manifest of the fearless Animalistic cravings in the small hours We suppress not Terrors of day overcome, pain deified We mock your brotherhood of suffering Enjoy your days in the hole Trapped in the flesh that you wish to rule To no avail We leave you here as you are The debt of life paid upfront We have proved death.

about

There are albums in this world that are inspired by books, that is, by the words and thoughts of their writers. “We Have Proved Death” captures the essence of what remained unsaid.

Relentless yet sophisticated Czech black metal spectacle SOMNIATE returns with their sophomore full-length record. Magical realism fuses with the black art once again, telling a story through blast beats, aggression and melancholy, shrouded in both clarity and dirt. The album was mixed and mastered by V. Santura, courtesy of TRIPTYKON/DARK FORTRESS, who is also responsible for sonic landscapes of BOLZER, ASCENSION, OBSCURA and other non-conformist artists.

Apart from university professors and literary critics, no one will ever know what went through the head of one Richard G. Brautigan (1935-1984) when he hammered down the draft of a short book called “In Watermelon Sugar” within two months in 1964. Although it was utopian literature - a vista of the good life, glorification of peace, some said - SOMNIATE couldn't care less and found their own meaning behind the scenes.

The band's debut “The Meyrinkian Slumber” (2020) was fascinated by the mysteries of the past; “We Have Proved Death” animates the unearthly beauty and earthly terror of the future. On the wings of merciless but skilfully crafted black metal, SOMNIATE brings you a story from a world where the sun shines a different colour every day - a world about which nobody is sure whether it ended for good or was born anew. A quiet community, undisturbed by the former matters of modern man, thriving in nature yet in the shadow of an old civilisation. A city once swallowed by the apocalypse. Unconditional happiness or insanity? Peace or lethargy? Stillness or death? There are men who revel in love and compassion, and there are those who drink the bodies of the dead. Their paths are bound to collide.

A psychedelic mixture of harmony and dissonance, both unpolished and elegant; black metal visions from the realm behind our eyelids.
